Western Economic Partnership Agreement (WEPA)

The Western Economic Partnership Agreement (WEPA) is a $50 million joint federal/provincial program that supports economic development in British Columbia.

The current WEPA, announced January 19, 2009, is jointly administered by the Ministry of Small Business, Technology and Economic Development and Western Economic Diversification Canada.  WEPA is equally funded by both partners, with each contributing $25 million over five years (2008/09 - 2013/14).

Other than individuals or for-profit organizations, a wide range of entities are eligible to receive WEPA funding.

WEPA projects will reinforce B.C.'s economic strengths in knowledge-based business and technological innovation, and assist resource industries to cope with global economic change.  Projects funded through WEPA will help British Columbia organizations to research and develop clean energy and environmental technologies, accelerate investment attraction to B.C. and support the success of new products and processes.

All proposals submitted for consideration must identify a secured source of funding and demonstrate broad benefits to an industry, sector or region.
