B.C. Renaissance Capital Fund

The B.C. Renaissance Capital Fund Ltd. (the “Renaissance Fund”) is a crown corporation that is administered by the provincial Ministry of Economic Development. Since December 2007, the Renaissance Fund has made capital commitments totalling $90 million with 6 venture capital fund managers, each of whom has a proven track record of investing successfully in one or more of 4 key technology sectors: information technology, digital media, life sciences and clean technology.


 

Investment Capital Programs

The Ministry of Economic Development offers 4 key programs to help small businesses in B.C access capital for business start-up and expansion. Tax credits offered under the Small Business Venture Capital Act and the Employee Investment Act have the capacity to support up $168 million of investment capital annually and are designed to support continuous access to early-stage venture capital for small businesses.
