British Columbia is home to several thriving and burgeoning high technology sectors. We have invested over $1.5 billion, over the past few years, in our institutions and research infrastructure. This investment has underpinned some exciting research which has led to British Columbia becoming a world leader in several technology fields, including advanced energy, and life sciences. British Columbia's researchers are conducting world leading research in a number of fields. Under the guidance of our university-industry liaison offices, some of these researchers are establishing companies which are attracting interest from major players. In recent years companies like Roche, Merck and Tekada have signed significant deals with British Columbia based businesses. To highlight the research and corporate activity going on in our high technology sectors we have created a number of Asset Maps. These document current research activities, key research institutions and other support facilities, technology transfer activities including companies spun out of our universities, as well as opportunities for research collaboration and investment.
